Happy Birthday
I had an awesome birthday yesterday. Surfed Swami's with 6 other people and 5 foot beautiful waves, had the time of my life. Then, went to the Zoo to see some animals. Love that place. After, my BF and I had some delicious Sushi at RA downtown. And finished the day with a Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake from Extraordinary Desserts. Delishhh. Best day ever.

RIP, Terry Martin
Sad to hear that a pioneer of surfboard shaping has passed today. Taken by melanoma cancer, he was 74. Terry has an incredible history and his influence will always live. He shaped over 80,000 boards for Hobie. Remarkable man. Remember to tell those you love that you love them. See you in heaven, Terry.

Quads are Kool
Yesterday, I had a really good surf on my new board and I am even more stoked on it. I took it out to Swamis in the afternoon. Sets were around the 4 foot range but there were smaller ankle slappers coming through that were rejected by most and I caught so many of them. Due to some south swell, Swamis was interesting but really fun. I like the way a south wraps around the reef and produces a very bowly wave. So much fun. I love the way my board turns. The turns are sharp and direct, and simple! So happy.

Let's go surfing
Even though the waves were all crazy, I did manage to get a few good rides at the Bluffs. :)

Finished board, with a little 80s influence
The latest model, just finished yesterday. I'm pretty stoked. Can't wait to ride it. It feels a little thick, but it's not meant to be a thin comp board. This board has post-groovy volume with moderately full down-rails and volume through the nose. I like quads and this board is none-the-less a quad. Now it's time for some artwork and off to the beach we go. Happy Saturday.

Day at the Shop
Hotcoated deck, put the fins in, hotcoated bottom, put the leash plug in...
Ran around to other shops. So much to do!
Had a productive day.

AB3- Oceanside June 16
I'll be bringing some of my boards for everyone to check out and ride, please come !
WHEN: Saturday June 16, 2012.
Start time: whenever you feel like rolling down to the beach. Dawn patrol if you want.
WHAT: "Anything-But-Three/Fish Fry" Alternative Surfboard Event
WHERE: North Harbor, Oceanside-North San Diego County, California. See
location on Surfline. *You must pay to park at N. Harbor. There is free
parking about a mile away.
WHY: This is a gathering of
alternative board riders and craftsman. Think of it as a hot rod show
where you get to take the cars around the block for a spin.
WHAT IT'S NOT: This is not a contest or a tradeshow. Participating
surfboard companies should bring their shapers, glassers, sanders and
team riders but leave the banners and sales reps at home.
When the waves are small
I prefer waves at least 3 feet and above. Anything below that is so small and not very powerful. I don't ride a long board nor would I ever want to. So when the waves are small, I have to find other things to do like biking, art, swimming, and work! Boooo. On the bright side, the water has warmed up a little and my boo caught a beautiful Yellowtail :)

Graffiti Inspires Me
Artists don't always tell you what inspires them but after looking through hundreds of photos of graffiti from around the world last night, I chose several that really inspire me. With a huge interest in surfboards, I love linear art. Anything with repetitive patterns and shapes. Also I like political statements and non-realistic images fused with today's world issues. Enjoy what is inside my brain.
